<p align="left">This documentary talks about how local citizens in Cuba joined forces &#8211;businessmen, laborers, housewives, etc.&#8211;to slow their energy consumption, which resulted in community gardens, new local businesses, etc. , and developed a real sense of &#8220;community.&#8221;   We&#8217;re hoping this forum will initiate projects that our local citizens can get involved in and provide an outlet for those who want to create change. We believe that the future is NOW!</p>
<p style="font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin: 0px"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px">More - There will be a panel consisting of Joshua Ferguson, who will talk about water harvesting, Lucy Falcy of Slow Food Yamhill County, Nathaniel Hitchcock of the Cozine Bicycle Club, Barbara Boyer of Yamhill County Soil and Water. Each panel member will have 5 minutes to give an overview of their group/project. There will be 20-30 minutes after that for questions/discussion/action ideas.  Then the panel members will meet at separate tables with interested people to generate support and develop plans to work together on specific projects.</span></p>

<p>Main speaker is Doug Boleyn, PE, Energy Consultatnt for Oregon Interfaith Power and Light. He has over 30 years experience in energy conservation and renewable energy, including previous work for Portland General Electric and Bonneville Power Administration. Doug is currently owner and President of Cascade Solar Consulting, serves on the board of the Solar Energy Assoc. of Oregon, and serves on the renewable advisory committee of Energy Trust of Oregon. He is a registered Professional Engineer in <st1:state><st1:place>Oregon</st1:place></st1:state>.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt"> The 1st workshop is a consultation on energy stewardship for congregations, facility managers, clergy, and building committee members.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<table class="ec3_schedule"><tr><td colspan="3">September 6, 2008</td></tr><tr><td class="ec3_start">10:00 am</td><td class="ec3_to">to</td><td class="ec3_end">2:00 pm</td></tr></table><p class="MsoNormal">Cool Mac is coming into its own—we&#8217;re the only ones besides city departments to have been invited to have a booth at City Faire.<span>  </span>The focus is on sustainability and community…right up our alley!<span>  </span>The city’s intent is to make as small a footprint on <st1:place><st1:placename>Discovery</st1:placename>  <st1:placetype>Park</st1:placetype></st1:place> as possible while showcasing city services.<span>  </span>WOW (Western Oregon Waste) will be providing recyclable garbage containers, for example. They are encouraging everyone to ride bicycles or walk if possible.<span>  </span>There will be a special <st1:street><st1:address>Bicycle   Circle</st1:address></st1:street> for people to leave their bikes. This area is going to be patrolled, and someone will be checking riders in.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This really sounds like a fun place to be on Saturday, September 6, from <st1:time minute="0" hour="10">10 a.m.</st1:time> to <st1:time minute="0" hour="14">2 p.m.</st1:time> There will be live bands and strolling musicians, puppeteers, people on stilts. There will be a ceremony by City Council about <st1:time minute="30" hour="11">11:30</st1:time>. They want to honor the volunteers within the city and will be giving out some awards. After that they’ll start serving free hot dogs, a Pep Band from <st1:city><st1:place>Portland</st1:place></st1:city> will give a short concert, and then comes the free ice cream!</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">There will be tethered hot air balloon rides, police department’s helicopter will be there along with their new equipment, and the fire department will have their trucks displayed.<span>  </span>Community Development (including Planning Department) have their own booth. McMinnville Water and Light are giving away bulbs and shower heads again. There will be interactive demonstrations and exhibits. The Police Department will have a bicycle safety course set up as well as having a dog training demonstration.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">And the whole day is free!</p>
