This documentary talks about how local citizens in Cuba joined forces –businessmen, laborers, housewives, etc.–to slow their energy consumption, which resulted in community gardens, new local businesses, etc. , and developed a real sense of “community.” We’re hoping this forum will initiate projects that our local citizens can get involved in and provide an outlet for those who want to create change. We believe that the future is NOW!
More - There will be a panel consisting of Joshua Ferguson, who will talk about water harvesting, Lucy Falcy of Slow Food Yamhill County, Nathaniel Hitchcock of the Cozine Bicycle Club, Barbara Boyer of Yamhill County Soil and Water. Each panel member will have 5 minutes to give an overview of their group/project. There will be 20-30 minutes after that for questions/discussion/action ideas. Then the panel members will meet at separate tables with interested people to generate support and develop plans to work together on specific projects.

This was a wonderful community gathering. We will want to do this again in February. I highly encourage all to see this film. Very inspiring and hopeful! We are trying to get a blog started somewhere to bring together all groups under one umbrella for community conversation. Stay tuned!
