Cool Mac is a co-sponsor with the Yamhill County Peacemakers in showing the film, “End of Suburbia, Oil Depletion and the Collapse of the American Dream, ” on Wednesday, February 20, at 6:30 at the Moonlight Theatre. This film talks about the changes beginning in the 1950s when oil was cheap and at a surplus to where we are today. Producer Greg Greene believes the world is entering the beginning of the end of the age of oil, a phase that will affect every aspect of human existence. Following the movie, Sid Freidman of 1000 Friends of Oregon and representatives of Cool Mac will speak and answer questions.

Hi Everyone-
Just an update on the upcoming Cool Mac Meeting. I have scheduled us for Saturday February 23 at 9:30 at the Miller Woods Conference Room offered by Tim Stieber with the Yamhill Soil and Water Conservation District (Thanks, Tim!) Susan Sokol Blosser will be coming to talk and Tim will also tell us about their project. They have some exciting things going on out there that I think you will be really interested in. I also met with Duncan, Ryan and Scott from Linfield. He and his team are doing some great things at Linfield and are very excited to be a part of what we are doing, as well. There are three different activities that they would like Cool Mac to take part in. Here is the lowdown on what they are looking for. All of the events for the Linfield Focus the Nation will be held on Monday, February 18th, but there are three different events on that day that they would like to invite Cool Mac representatives to take part in.
(1) At 4:00 on that day they will be having a kick off 1 hour session. For this session they would like for Cool Mac to do a presentation and lead a discussion about Global Warming. The audience will be primarily Linfield students and some staff. The topics that they would like to hear about are (a) Overview of Global Warming (b) Local Impacts (c) Local initiatives, what is being done locally and (d) What can people do?
(2) At 6:00 there will be a dinner. Anyone is invited but they will need to know the number ASAP so that they can get a head count for the event. Please email me ASAP to let me know if you are interested in attending so that I can get back to him with a number.
-and-
(3) At 8:00 the staff will be holding a cross discipline panel discussion about Global Warming and then they will break up into smaller groups for discussion. They would love to have 4-5 Cool Mac members that would be interested in leading a solutions based dialogue in these smaller groups.
This is a great opportunity for us to contribute to the success of this event. The team of students that is working so hard on pulling this event together is also interested in becoming more involved with Cool Mac, so hopefully we will get to work with them more in the future. They have a lot of energy and great ideas!
John Mead had mentioned that he might be interested in participating in the event in some way. Would anyone else that is interested in participating please let me know that you would be interested and in what way you would like to participate (in which event).
Thanks!
Wendy
